Members of Preceptor Pi chapter of Beta Sigma Phi present a gift of $550 to Dr. Kyle Krebaum for the Makinna Ann Hope Foundation established by Krebaum and his wife, Tasha, in memory of their daughter, Makinna, to help families who have special-needs children. This donation will go toward the Foundation's new project to fund playground equipment for a special-needs access park. Since the chapter's first donation to the Makinna Ann Hope Foundation in 2008, Preceptor Pi has given a total of $3,082 to the foundation. Pilot international and local Pilot Clubs around the globe recognize the second week in November as International Care & Kindness Week, a week-long public awareness campaign meant to bring awareness to how simple acts can change a day, a life or the world by simply showing someone you care. International Care & Kindness Week encourages people to "Take time to Care and Be Kind."
The Parnassus Club met at the home of Sharon Jones with eight members present. The study of the Tone Poem continued with Becky Dudrey giving the program on Richard Strauss' composition 'Till Eulenspiegel's Merry Pranks' Composed in 1895. 'Till Eulenspiegel' chronicles the misadventures and pranks of this German peasant. In this composition, Richard Strauss, uses the horn and the D flat Clarinet to bring to mind the folly of this prankster, Till.
Preceptor Pi Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi began its 2014-15 year in September with new plans for community service, and social and cultural activities. Members welcomed back Brenda Black, who has rejoined the chapter after returning to Great Bend from Topeka.

SALINA – The 48th annual See 'N' Sell Arts & Crafts Show continues a long-running tradition of kicking off the holiday season with nearly 200 fine arts, crafts, and homemade food vendors, all for a great cause – Kansas Girl Scouts.
The Great Bend Noon Kiwanis club's annual Halloween Parade saw more than 1,000 child participants on Oct. 25, member Barb Konrade reported.
