Progress Club
Progress Club met on April 1 at the home of Judy Fox. Jackie Curtis and Maxie Hinkson were the co-hostesses. There were 18 members in attendance.
League of Women Voters meetings
League of Women Voters of Great Bend will hold it's monthly meeting at noon on Tuesday at Montana Mike's, in the north room. Lunch will be from the menu and can be from their "quick serve" menu.
Twilight Stitchers show
Twilight Stitchers of Ellinwood will host a Member Trunk Show at 7:30 p.m. on April 11 at the Ellinwood Hospital Education room. Members will choose 3 to 4 quilts from their personal collections to share. Friends and guests are welcome to attend. Refreshments will be served.

4-H Shooter’s travel west for final county match of the season
On Saturday, March 23, five Barton County 4-H air rifle participants braved the weather and traveled to Cimarron to compete in the Gray County Air Rifle Match.
Progress Club Learns About “The Gift”
Local sculptor Chet Cale recently presented a program to members of the Progress Club at the home of Karen Becker. Using a variety of visual aids, he explained the processes involved in creating "The Gift," from early drawings to the casting and final installation of the three bronze figures in front of the Barton County Courthouse.

BCARSP meeting
The Barton County Association of Retired School Personnel met on May 10, at Montana Mike's in Great Bend. President Sally O'Connor presided over the meeting. There were 50 members and two guests present.
Great Bend Optimist and Rotary Club luncheon
A joint luncheon recognition was recently held for the Great Bend Optimist and Rotary Clubs. Brigadier General Vic Braden, Deputy Commanding General, Army National Guard, for the United States Army Combined Arms Center, Fort Leavenworth was the speaker.

The annual Kansas Lions State Convention in Wichita, May 30 - June 1, 2013, will take on an international significance as the Kansas Lions host Lions Clubs International President Wayne Madden and wife Linda at the Airport Hilton Convention Center.
Desk and Derrick presents check
The Desk and Derrick Club of Barton County recently donated $100 to the Great Bend Military Moms, to help with the costs of sending care packages to deployed military personnel. The Great Bend Military Moms have sent more than 4,300 care packages, to those serving so far away from home, and are getting ready for the next shipment.
