Ronnie Lutz, Central Kansas ThreadBenders Opportunity Quilt Chairman, has announced the recipient of the 2012 Opportunity Quilt as Sandra Vink of Great Bend. Each year, the guild members create an Opportunity Quilt and the money raised funds the group's HC project.
The Great Bend City Slickers 4-H Club met on Jan. 10. Twelve members, one leader, and ten parents were present. Roll call was answered by "What you got for Christmas." A member made a box for the clubs flags in his shop class. The group discussed fund-raising ideas. Barton County 4-H Days will be held on March 2nd. Entries are due by Feb. 15th.

At the January meeting of Great Bend Garden Club, Darlene Boley introduced her guest speaker, Joyce Esfeld, who gave a delightful program on Holland's Keukenhof, The World's Largest Flower Garden. Preceptor Pi Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi shared a Sister Chapter Social with Laureate Kappa Jan. 15 at First Christian Church. The dinner was catered by Bernard's Catering of Hutchinson. The two chapters met separately for their meetings following the dinner.
