The Progress Club met on Oct. 3 at the home of Sharon Jones. Darlene Mathers and Ruth Lowery were co-hostesses. Seventeen members were present.
Zeta Gamma Sorority had their first meeting of the year on Sept. 13 at St. Rose Atrium. The program, given by Ranjan Sachdev, gave the members an awareness of how to maintain a healthy mind and body. Plans were made for the Rush Party. Cake mixes were collected for Mrs. Prossers class at Lincoln elementary school. This is the 31st year for this project. Zeta Gamma's Rush party was held at The Rack. This was a couples party and well attended.
League of Women Voters of Great Bend will hold the monthly meeting at noon on Tuesday, at The Club at Stone Ridge. Lunch will be from the menu. The program will be provided by Barton County Clerk, Donna Zimmerman, about the new voting regulations that have come into effect.

Allen Winder, history enthusiast and basketball fan, was guest speaker for the Septenber meeting of NARFE at the Club at StoneRidge. Derinda Dussman, president, conducted the meeting with Charles Waknitz introducing the program.

Preceptor Pi Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi held its first meeting of the new sorority year on Sept. 6. Members met first at the USD 428 Central Kitchen on Broadway for a program arranged by Janis Link. Food Service Director Karl Sprague gave a tour of the kitchen and explained the operation including planning, preparing and transporting meals to the schools.
The Parnassus Club met Sept. 13, at Treader's for the fall kickoff.
The Barton County Association of Retired School Personnel met on Dec. 12, at Montana Mike's. President Sally O'Connor presided over the meeting. There were 46 members present, along with Superintendent of USD 428, Brad Reed.
The Parnassus Club met at the home of Darlene Boley for the December meeting. Coralie Button, club president, led the business meeting. Plans for the spring auditions for voice and piano students were discussed. This year's auditions will be March 7, at BCC. This annual event, held in the Fine Arts building, is an opportunity for students to perform before friends, family and a judge. The winners are given an award and in April perform for the members of the Parnassus Club.
