The Barton County Association of Retired School Personnel met at 11:30 a.m. on Dec. 10 at the Club at StoneRidge. President Rose Kelly opened the meeting with the flag salute and Becky Dudrey gave the invocation. Thirty-nine members and one guest, Edith Treece, were present.
Central Kansas Association for the Visually Impaired - at the Convent
The Progress Club met on Dec. 6 at the home of Darlene Boley. Seventeen members were present including two new members, Janet Engleman and Judy Turner.
Members of the Delta Tau Soroity gathered on Dec. 14 for a time of Christmas celebration. They toured the festive homes of some of the club members and enjoyed appetizers and a dessert at the homes. The evening also involved the pledge ceremony of the new members of Delta Tau. In a candle lit ceremony, Stephanie Joiner of Great Bend and Rachel Sieker of Ellinwood officially became sisters of Delta Tau. It was a fun and joyous evening, and a warm welcome to the new members of Delta Tau.

League of Women Voters of Great Bend will hold the monthly meeting at noon on Tuesday at The Club at Stone Ridge. Lunch will be from the menu. The program will be provided by Mary Miles, Executive Director of the Heart of Kansas Medical Clinic. She will be speaking on the effect of budget cuts on the services provided for people in need. The luncheon is informal and time will be allowed for discussion from the floor The public is invited to attend the meeting and ask questions.
Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary 3111 met at 7 p.m. on Nov. 30 at the Post home.
The Pilot Club of Great Bend met for a noon luncheon at the new Recreation Center Activity Building to officially present a Wii Sports program for use by the Special Population of the Center. Betty Schneider (R), President-Elect of the Pilot Club, presented the Wii to Diane Henderson, Director of the Great Bend Recreation Commission, and Linda Marqueling (L), Director of the Special Population and Seniors.
