The Progress Club met on Nov. 2, at the home of Kathy Schugart. Co-hostesses were Darlene Mathers and Ruth Lowry, who was unable to be present. President Sharon Mauler called the meeting to order, followed by The Lord's Prayer. Fifteen members answered roll call.
Preceptor Pi Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi met Oct. 7, at the home of Cindy Meitler. The program included roasting marshmallows and making s'mores around a fire pit on the patio with members sharing what they liked best about autumn. Meitler pointed out that s'mores were first mentioned in the 1927 Girl Scout Handbook.
Xi Delta Upsilon Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi is sponsoring Holiday Decor again this year from 2-4 p.m. on Nov. 1, at Flavored Celebrations, 1315 Stone in Great Bend. Those attending will get lots of ideas for fall and holiday decorating from local businesses Beautiful Beginnings, Cornerstone Interiors, Kustom Floors, Brick Alley, Evann Stueder, and Kat King. Tickets are $5 and are available from chapter members as well as at the door. Also, chances will be given to win a Santa by Loretta Miller. Proceeds will benefit Prairie Godmothers. In May, twelve Barton County 4H'ers and five certified shooting instructors started the 4H Small Bore Rifle Season by starting practice at the county level. Every Wednesday evening, they met at the Kiowa Gun Club to practice.
