League of Women Voters meeting
League of Women Voters of Great Bend will hold the monthly meeting at noon on Oct. 9 at Montana Mike's in the north room. Lunch will be from the menu and can be from their "quick serve" menu.
Preceptor Pi receives update on Makinna Ann Hope Foundation
Preceptor Pi Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi met Oct. 2 at the home of Janis Link. President Jeri Brozek led the meeting attended by 10 chapter members.

Great Bend High School senior Brad Hanks, center, was the guest speaker recently at the Great Bend Noon Kiwanis meeting. ​Prairie Quilt Guild to present biennial show
WICHITA - The Common Threads Quilt Show 2012 will be held June 21-23 at the Century II Exhibition Hall in Wichita. This year marks the 15th year for the biennial quilt show presented by the Prairie Quilt Guild. The guild, which includes over 700 members from Wichita and surrounding areas, celebrates its 30th anniversary in 2012 and expects to host over 5,000 guests who will view over 500 quilts. Boley receives Kiwanis' Great Bend Greater Award
It took a fellow musician to surprise Joe Boley when the Great Bend Noon Kiwanis presented the 2012 Great Bend Greater Award last Wednesday at Montana Mike's. The club's award to an outstanding citizen doesn't necessarily go to a fellow Kiwanian, but Boley has been a member since March 6, 1997. As club secretary, he thought he knew who the award was going to.

Barton County 4-H to host Regional 4-H Day
Barton County 4-H was host to Regional 4-H Day at Great Bend High School on March 9th. Regional 4-H Day participants are the top presentations selected at their local county 4-H Day. The counties that are in our region are Ellsworth, Pawnee, Rice, Russell, Stafford and of course, Barton.
