Lions governor to meet with Claflin

CLAFLIN - Lions District Governor Rev. Kerry Hookstra will make an official club visitation to the Claflin Lions Club at 6:30 p.m. on Sept. 27, meeting at the Community Center in Claflin. All club members are encouraged to be present for this important meeting with the District Governor and other visiting Lions leaders.

Homemakers to have fall market

The Homemakers Unlimited FCE will hold a fall market in Wolf Park on Sept. 25. They are offering booth space for $25 for a single booth or $40 for a double booth to individuals and civic organizations. Anyone with baked goods, crafts, garage sale items, produce or collectibles will be welcome. This would be an opportunity for church groups, school groups and Relay for Life teams to earn some money for their projects.

USD 112 seeks school name

CLAFLIN - In the 2011-12 school year, USD 112 is seeking new names for the schools. They will have a newly consolidated high school in Claflin, a newly consolidated middle school in Bushton, a newly consolidated elementary school in Holyrood, and still have the Pre-K – 12 school in Wilson. The school board would like to give everyone an opportunity to suggest names for the schools. This is not for school mascots or school colors.

Prom party to be held

It's that time again! The annual After-Prom Tailgate BBQ will be held on Friday, Sept. 3 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., prior to the Claflin vs. Quivira Heights football game. The event will be set up just north of the football field, west of the high school gym, as it has been in the past. The cost this year a $6 for a hamburger meal, which includes hamburger, chips, dessert and drink, and $4 for a hot dog meal, includes hot dog, chips, dessert and drink.
