Training set for potential adoptive and foster parents

POSTED August 9, 2018 2:33 p.m.

Dear editor,
Barton County has a need for more local foster parents. Strong families make children’s lives better. You can help make the difference. Saint Francis Community Services will have a TIPS-MAPP training Class which is a pre-service training for potential adoptive and foster parents prior to becoming licensed by the state. It helps families make informed decision about becoming a resource family. The program guides potential applicants through complex issues they may face as a resource family. Through carefully designed activities, parents can see first hand the challenges of adopting and fostering children.
It is a 10-week class, starting September 6 in Great Bend. It will be every Thursday night from 6-9 for 10 weeks.

Jamie Hatfield, St. Francis Community Services
