The Great Bend Bat Cats continue to score runs.
But the Bat Cats’ pitching struggled in an 11-6 Jayhawk League loss to the Hays Larks at Al Burns Field in Tuesday’s home opener.
The Bat Cats walked 11 batters and yielded three unearned runs with five errors. The Larks featured a pair of three-run innings and a pair of two-run innings. The Bat Cats (2-2) travel to Dodge City Wednesday.
The Bat Cats struggled after starter Zach Curry struck out the game’s first two batters. Two walks, an error and two hit batters led to two runs on no hits. Curry, who threw 100 pitches with four walks and three hit batters, and reliever Derek Anderson each yielded four runs.

Two Larks scored on a second-inning error. Matt Munoz singled home Wyatt Divis and Jared Martin. Cole Solomon scored on a groundball for a 7-2 lead after 31/2 innings.
The Larks added three fifth-inning runs. Martin’s bases-loaded double drove home Kolby Robinson, Ryne Randle and Wyatt Divis for a 10-3 lead.
Great Bend continued to add single runs.
