Walkoff single sparks Bat Cats

Great Bend Bat Cats Zack Berohn and Jack Berdovsky saved the day.
Berohn tied the first game with a two-run homer and Berdovsky’s game-winning single sparked a 7-6 victory over the Oklahoma City Indians that led to a doubleheader sweep Saturday. The Bat Cats won the nightcap 10-6 to sweep the three-game series.

BAT CATS 7, OKC 6 (G1) – Oklahoma City led 4-2 after 41/2 innings. The Bat Cats scored single runs in the first, third, fourth and fifth innings for a 4-4 tie.
G. Johnson singled home Reece Johnson in the first inning. Bordovsky’s double scored Chris Swanberg in the third inning. Zack Berohn’s single scored Brendan Madsen in the fifth inning. Thomas Alexander’s double scored Nick Urban-Michalak in the sixth inning for a 4-4 tie.
But the Indians scored two seventh-inning runs off reliever Anthony Schatz for a 6-4 lead.
Bat Cat Blaine Ray walked to start the seventh inning. Berohn (Cuesta College) homered for a 6-6 tie. Urban-Michalak walked and stole second base. The Bat Cats celebrated when Berdovsky’s single scored Urban-Michalak.

BAT CATS 10, OKC 6 (G2) – The Bat Cats rallied for a victory on a four-run sixth inning. Nolan Riley and Urban-Michalak each drove home two runs.
Urban-Michalak’s single scored G. Johnson to start a three-run second inning. Riley scored on Reece Johnson’s single. Urban-Michalak scored on a bases-loaded hit batter for a 3-0 lead. Riley’s double scored Anthony Schatz for a 4-0 lead.
Riley’s sacrifice fly scored Berohn and Urban-Michalak’s triple scored Schatz for a 6-2 lead after five innings.
Blaine Ray’s single scored Austin McNicholas for a 7-6 lead. Ray scored on a Berohn sacrifice fly. Schatz’s double scored G. Johnson. Schatz scored on a wild pitch for a 10-6 lead.
