Great Bend boys capture WAC bowling title

DODGE CITY — The Great Bend boys captured the Western Athletic Conference bowling championship and Panthers Jordan Black and Allie Brodrick earned WAC-Bowler of the Year honors.
Great Bend finished with 68 points and Garden City (64) placed second. Great Bend posted the best series score in two of three games, 803-800 and 931-882 over the Buffaloes.
Great Bend’s Mike Perry was named Boys Coach of the Year.
The Great Bend girls scored 67 points and finished as WAC runner-up to Garden City (71). Great Bend defeated Garden City head-to-head, 173-170 and 192-156 in Baker games, but Garden City posted the best series score in two of three games, 840-707 and 747-722.
Also earning All-WAC honors by placing in the top 12 were Great Bend’s Jacob Holden (207.5), Blake Sheets (192.1), A.J. Roberts (189.6) and Brodie Owens (180.6).
Also earning All-WAC honors by finishing in the top 12 were Great Bend;s Kylynn Keeler (175.5), Jordan Vstescka (173.5), McKenzy Black (167.3), Elsi Miller (162.7) and Lexi Fox (155.6).
Garden City’s Karl Larsen (669) and Garden City’s Faith Whited (584) placed first in Thursday’s league tournament. Great Bend’s A.J. Roberts (656) placed second and Panther Blake Sheets (641) finished third. Great Bend’s Kylynn Keeler (580) placed second.
