Kansas junior golfers edge Nebraska

AXTELL, Neb. — McPherson’s Jacob Lackey, the Kansas Junior Amateur champion, birdied eight holes to outlast Nebraska’s Kellen Rossman, 2 and 1, to lead Kansas to a 9-7 victory Tuesday over Nebraska in the 2017 Kansas-Nebraska Junior Cup Match.
Rossman aced the No. 2 hole and eagled the No. 9 hole, but Central Oklahoma signee Lackey birdied No. 16 and 17 for eight birdies to rally for the victory at Amarii Country Club.
Kansas leads the all-time series 19-13 and has swept the last seven Junior Cup matches.
Garden City’s Sion Audrain and Andover’s Zach Sokolosky, committed to the University of Kansas, won all three matches in singles, best-ball and foursomes. They won their best-ball match, 3 and 2, and an alternate-shot match, 1-up. Audrain won three of his last four holes to win 2-up over Tucker Knack.
