Great Bend wrestlers lose to Hays High

HAYS — Hays High swept the final six matches to down Great Bend 41-27 in Thursday’s dual match.
Great Bend’s wrestling team (2-2 WAC) missed a chance to tie Garden City and Dodge City for the Western Athletic Conference wrestling title.
Great Bend’s Carsyn Schooler (120), George Weber (32-6, 132), Braxton Schooler (138), Alex Randolph (145) and Gage Fritz (26-4, 152) won their matches. The Panthers wrestled without state-ranked Drew Liles (113). Weber, Schooler, Randolph and Fritz won on pins.
Garden City and Dodge City finished with 3-1 WAC records. Great Bend defeated Dodge City 40-35. Garden City defeated Great Bend, 46-18. Dodge City edged Garden City 33-27.
