Hoisington Forensics students receive letters at awards banquet

HOISINGTON — At the 3A State Championship Forensic Tournament, four Hoisington High School students advanced in competition. Garrett Dykes placed ninth out of 49 in humorous solo acting and 13th out of 31 in impromptu speaking. Xavier Robinson and Trey Byers placed 10th out of 46 in improvised duet acting. Payton Dykes placed 14th out of 31 in impromptu speaking.
Chandler Blackwell, Brayden Copp, Logan Hammeke, Daphne Copp, Joanna Lockwood, Sage Martinz, Kirk Reisner, and Taylor Schwartz also earned the right to compete and contributed to the team effort. The team placed 18th out of 49 schools.
The team ended the year with the annual Awards Banquet at the high school. Garrett Dykes was named Most Outstanding Forensics Student.
Logan Hammeke and Joanna Lockwood also earned Outstanding Forensics Student awards.
Payton Dykes was named the Outstanding Novice Forensics Student, and Sage Martinz was named the Runner-Up Outstanding Novice Forensics Student.
Josh Ball, Chandler Blackwell, Daphne Copp, Kelsi Dalton, Alexis Doonan, Garrett Dykes, Payton Dykes, Logan Hammeke, Kyle Hayes, Bryce Hopkins, Joanna Lockwood, Nick Long, Sage Martinz, Kylie Miller, and Taylor Schwartz earned letters.
After the banquet and some brief comments from Coach Oborny, several members of the team entertained the audience with their forensics presentations.
