Barton County 4-Hers receive scholarships

Barton County 4-H members were presented scholarships to further their education from the Barton County 4-H Holding Board, Chari Miller-Manry and the Carl and Evelyn Miller Memorial scholarship funds. The 4-H Holding Board Inc. is a not-for-profit corporation and all funds are used for the benefit of 4-H youth of Barton County. Matching funds for the Holding Board scholarships were provided by Chari Miller-Manry, in memory of Allan V. Miller who served as a volunteer 4-H leader for many years. Carl and Evelyn Miller were leaders for the Lakin Go-Getters 4-H club. Carl also served on the 4-H Holding Board from 1969 through 1975.
Katelyn Reh, a 2018 graduate of Ellinwood High School, will be a freshman at Fort Hays State University majoring in Pre-Veterinary medicine. Katelyn was a 4-H member for 10 years in the Ellinwood Energizers 4-H Club and served as president for two years. She served as a Heart of Kansas camp counselor at Rock Springs Ranch 4-H Center. In high school, she was active in tennis, band, FBLA, FFA, and other community activities. She is the daughter of John and Kathy Reh of Ellinwood.
Kirk Reisner, a 2018 graduate of Hoisington High School, will be majoring in Exercise Science at Wichita State University. Kirk was a Hoisington Jets 4-H member and was president of his club. His 4-H accomplishments include earning the 4-H Key Award and serving as a 4-H Ambassador. At Hoisington High School, he was active in FCCLA, tennis, Scholars Bowl, band, and other community organizations. He is the son of Doug and Karla Reisner of Hoisington.
