Vendors, talent sought for Juneteenth celebration

Members of the community are invited to join Myers Chapel in the celebration of Juneteenth, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday, June 30, in Jack Kilby Square in Great Bend. This day-long celebration is billed as a celebration of life in America and a community-building event.
Worldwide, Juneteenth is the oldest known celebration commemorating the end of slavery in the United States. It was created by African Americans to commemorate emancipation from slavery in Texas on June 19, 1865. Today, the celebration emphasizes education and achievement.
Activities in Great Bend will include a Gospel music band, drill team and young leaders, arts and crafts, storytellers and poets, children’s activities
Organizers are looking for talent for the day as well as vendors.
Vendor spaces are $25 for organizations, churches, businesses and individuals. For more information and to obtain vendor forms, call 620-792-7833, 620-793-6557 or 620-292-7739. The deadline for vendor forms is June 1.
