This Friday morning’s Jive & Joe will host some extra-special guests: the 35th Infantry Division Band of the Kansas Army National Guard. The concert will start at 10:30 a.m., and feature two instrumental groups: the Bullseye Brass Quintet and the Prairie Winds Quintet. The performances will feature military & patriotic music, plus Big Band selections. There will also be a time for honoring veterans and their families. Come kick back, grab some coffee and treats, and start your Friday off right by enjoying listening to the military band.
Next week, we are hosting a magic and comedy show at the library, performed by Dan Dan the Magic Man. The show is geared toward children, but can be enjoyed by everyone. Dan Dan will be at the library on Wednesday, July 18, and will present the same show at two different times that day: 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Dan is a Great Bend native, but travels throughout Kansas to do library presentations for summer reading programs. He travels with his children, as well as a variety of live animals, who help him out with his shows. Dan focuses his shows on audience participation and promoting the library theme of “Libraries Rock,” to make sure that children are engaged and excited. Although he has participated in the summer reading program for 16 years, he has a new show every year, so you never know what might happen!
oth of these events are excellent opportunities to visit the library and experience something exciting and new. For more information on any library events, programs, or resources, check out our website (, send an email (, or call (620-792-2409). Of course, you are always welcome to stop by in person and ask about any eventsat the front desk.
