Great Bend Middle School volleyball defends homecourt

The Great Bend Middle School 7th-grade volleyball team defended its homecourt advantage recently.

SEVENTH GRADE A — The GBMS 7th-grade A team downed Dodge City Middle School, 25-16, 25-13. The Panthers defeated Garden City Horace Good, 25-23, 25-21 in a tight match. 

The Panthers split the first two sets with Salina South , winning 25-10 before stumbling a bit in  25-21 second set loss. The Panthers regrouped and secured the win 15-6.

On Sept. 10, the Panthers A team downed Dodge City Comanche 25-16, 25-13. The Dodge City Cardinals edged the Panthers 25-21, before the Panthers rallied for a 25-6, 15-6 victory. The A-team sports an 11-1 record.

SEVENTH GRADE B — The 7th grade B-team outlasted Salina South 25-10, 21-25, 15-6 before rolling past Dodge City Middle School, 25-16, 25-13. The Lady Panthers downed Garden City Horace Good 25-8, 25-12. 

On Sept. 10,  the team started a little slow defeating the Dodge City Cardinals 25-22, 25-13. The Panthers beat Dodge City Comanche 25-6, 25-17. The B-team has an 11-1 record.

“I am so proud of how the girls are playing,” said Great Bend coach Miranda Drouillard. “They are starting to put it all together, which is really neat to see. The girls are becoming confident in what they are doing and it shows. We have some big matches coming, but I’m confident that the girls are ready to work together and go battle.”
