Elwyn L. Alexander

LYONS — Elwyn L. Alexander of Augusta passed away Oct. 31 at the age of 86 years. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Elvera and grandchild DeAnna, parents and five siblings.

He is survived by eight children, Ronald Alexander and wife Alice of Klamath Falls, Ore., Jimmy Alexander and wife Theresa of Malin, Ore., Connie Steele and husband Mark of Hutchinson, Sarah Prebble and husband Larry of Hutchinson, Carolyn Young and husband Jim of Waldron, Ark., Marie Partington and husband Howard of Great Bend, Joyce Whithorn and husband Larry of Hutchinson, and Goldie Goodwin and husband Doug of Augusta; daughter of the heart Dana Veach and husband Dan of Derby; 15 grandchildren, Wayne, Lonnie, April, Nacole, Ricky, Brian, Tony, Linda, Jason, Angela, Evelyn, Travis, Kim, Randy and Britney, and grandchildren of the heart Denver and Danielle; and 16 great-grandchildren.

Elwyn and Elvera were married 64 years. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Birzer Funeral Home, Lyons, with Chaplain Sharlene Micelli officiating. Burial will be in Lyons Municipal Cemetery with full military honors by a Fort Riley Honor Guard. Visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. today and 9 a.m. to service time Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to Good Shepherd Hospice in care of the funeral home.
