Vernie W. Bowyer 1958 - 2009

Vernie W. Bowyer, 51, of Great Bend, died Nov. 11 at his residence. He was born June 19, 1958, at Great Bend, the son of LaVern George and Jane Homburg Bowyer. He was a musician for 33 years for Peace Lutheran Church, also playing at many special occasions throughout Nebraska, Kansas, Oklahoma and Texas. He was a lifetime resident of Great Bend.

Mr. Bowyer was a member of Peace Lutheran Church in Albert.

Survivors include his mother, Jane Bowyer of Great Bend; a brother, Ernie Bowyer, of Great Bend; a nephew, B.J. Bowyer of Coldwater; and two great-nephews, A.J. and Alvin Bowyer. Vernie was preceded in death by his father, LaVern Bowyer.

Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Peace Lutheran Church, Albert, with Pastor Patricia Reep officiant. Interment will be at Peace Lutheran Cemetery, Albert. Visitation will be from 1 to 9 p.m. Sunday, with family to receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m., and Monday from 9 to 11 a.m., all at Bryant Funeral Home.
