Letha M. McGinty 1917 - 2009

SEWARD — Letha M. McGinty, 92, died Nov. 17 at Hospice House of Reno County, Hutchinson. She was born Feb. 3, 1917, at Ashland, the daughter of Fred and Rhoda Fender Kilgore. She married Harry Francis McGinty Nov. 21, 1939, at Seward. He died July 7, 1960. She was a farmer and homemaker. She grew up in Manter, but lived most of her adult life in Seward.

Mrs. McGinty was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church and its Altar Society, Seward.

Survivors include two sons, Michael McGinty of Seward and James McGinty of Farmington Hills, Mich.; two daughters, Karen Marker of Hutchinson and Rosemary Henry of Houma, La.; one brother, George Kilgore of Syracuse; five sisters, Leora Creech of Grenada, Colo., Arlene Nichols of Johnson, Joyce Reinhart of Thomas, Okla., and Juan Toole and Donna Webb, both of Manter; 13 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by one son, Francis McGinty, two brothers, Bernard and Warren Kilgore, one sister, Sally Baier, and one great-great-grandson.

A vigil service will be at 7 p.m. today at Bryant Funeral Home, Great Bend. Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Seward, with Father René Guesnier officiant. Interment will be at the church cemetery, Seward. Visitation will be from 1 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home. A memorial fund has been established for the CKMC Foundation for the Benefit of Heartland Cancer Center.
