Donald R. Veach 1942 - 2009

COOLIDGE, Ariz. — Donald R. Veach, 67, died Nov. 10 at Hospice Family Care, Casa Grande, Ariz. He was born March 10, 1942, in Great Bend, the son of George and Irene Schiltter Veach.

He had been a resident of Arizona since 2001, formerly of Livingston, Texas, Fort Collins, Colo., Great Bend and Ellinwood.

Mr. Veach retired in 2008 as regional sales engineer for Mega Hertz in Dallas, Texas. He also developed cable TV systems in central Kansas. He was a member of the Escapee RV club and Immanuel United Church of Christ in Ellinwood. He also was a U.S. Navy veteran of Vietnam aboard the U.S.S. Savage.

Survivors include his companion, Mary L. Elmquist, of Coolidge, Ariz.; three sons, Rick Manderick, of Guysville, Ohio, George E. Veach, of Westminster, Calif., and Greg A. Veach, of Las Cruces, N.M.; one brother, Robert E. Veach, of Bella Vista, Ark.; and one sister, Linda Bradley, of Naponee, Neb. He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Timothy Veach. He has five grandchildren.

A memorial service was held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Immanuel United Church of Christ, Ellinwood, officiated by the Rev. Larry Young. There will be no visitation. Burial will be at the Lakin-Comanche District Cemetery in Ellinwood. Memorials are suggested to the church or to University of Kansas Cancer Research, in care of the funeral home.
