Barbara A. Ater 1939 - 2009

SHAFFER — Barbara A. Ater, 70, died Nov. 21 at Woodhaven Care Center in Ellinwood. Born Aug. 10, 1939, in Larned, she was the daughter of Frank and Doris Cole Wilson. On April 27, 1958, she married Dale E. Ater in Pawnee Rock. He died Oct. 25, 2005. A lifetime resident of Shaffer, she was a bookkeeper for Dale’s Refrigeration and a homemaker.

Mrs. Ater was a member of the First Christian Church in Pawnee Rock.

Survivors include a son, Allen D. Ater, of Great Bend; two daughters, Jeanette Corbett of Ellinwood and Teresa Ater of Bunker Hill; three brothers, Bill Wilson of Hays, Keith Wilson of Wichita and Randy Wilson of Larned; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Bryant Funeral Home in Great Bend with the Rev. Dick Ogle officiating. Burial will be at the Great Bend Cemetery. Friends may visit from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home, with family receiving friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Memorials are suggested to the Albert Fire Department in care of the funeral home.
