Robert Lee "Bob" Layne 1951 - 2009
November 25, 2009 @ 1:54pmSTAFFORD — Robert Lee “Bob” Layne, 58, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Nov. 23 at Via Christi Regional Medical Center, St. Francis Campus, Wichita. Born April 13, 1951, at Idabel, Okla., he was the son of Thomas Robert “Buck” and Coeta Jo Burrows Layne. He was a pipeline welder for Semcrude and was the owner/operator of RODBRNR Welding.
Mr. Layne was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, Stafford City Council, Stafford Lake Board and NRA.
On July 5, 1969, he married Gracie May Kirkendoll. To this union were born four daughters: Catherine Suzanne Ryner and her husband John of Galesburg, Ill., Melissa Jean Heinzman of Salina, Valerie Gail Farr and her husband L.D. of Danville, Ind., and Elizabeth Kaye Otto and her husband Craig of Stafford. On Jan. 4, 1997, he married Allison Diane “Alli” Oeser at Stafford.
He is survived by his wife, daughters, mother, of Ada, Okla., stepsons Jordan Hayes Keenan of Hutchinson and Chandler Logan Keenan of Sterling; seven grandchildren, Jordan Ryner, Blake Nicol, Taylor Heinzman, Alexis Southerland, Joshua Ryner, Ashlyn Heiznman and Chase Otto; brothers Scott Layne of Wetumka, Okla., and Michael Layne of Stratford, Okla.; a sister, Linda Duncan of Ada, Okla.; five nephews, two nieces, one step-nephew and seven step-nieces.
Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Calvary Baptist Church with the Rev. Jim Dillon presiding. The family will receive friends Thursday from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Minnis Chapel, Stafford. Memorials may be sent to the Calvary Baptist Church, Sugar Creek Ministries or Emmanuel Ministries in care of the chapel.
