Mary Alice Ann Eastwood Lang 1918 - 2009

HOISINGTON — Mary Alice Ann Eastwood Lang, 91, died Nov. 27 at Ambassador Manor (Hope Hospice), Tulsa, Okla. She was born Feb. 15, 1918, at Kansas City, Mo., the daughter of James Arthur and Sarah Myrtle (Fisher) Welch. She married George Eastwood on Aug. 23, 1939, at Great Bend. He preceded her in death on Aug. 2, 1974. She married August Lang on Sept. 14, 1985, at Hoisington. He survives. She was a bookkeeper/clerk at Cheyenne Drug in Hoisington for 10 years, retiring in September of 1985. She was a lifetime resident of Barton County.

Mrs. Lang was a member of the St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Altar Society, Legion of Mary and Women Civic Club, all of Hoisington.

Survivors include her husband, August “Gus” Lang, Great Bend; daughter Mary Alice Carlile, Colwich; son Jim Eastwood, Tulsa, Okla.; stepdaughter Dolores Appel, Great Bend; two stepsons, Jerome Lang, Hoisington, and Gerald Lang, San Francisco, Calif.; three granddaughters, Tracy Rohlman and her husband Gary, Kingman, Jennifer VenJohn and her husband Dallas, Andale, and Heather Rutledge and her husband Jared, Broken Arrow, Okla.; five great-grandchildren, six step-grandchildren and nine step-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Mary Elizabeth Eastwood, a brother James A. Welch and son-in-law Jim Carlile.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Hoisington, with Father Dwight Birket officiating. Altar Society rosary will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the church. Burial will be at St. John Cemetery, Hoisington. Visitation will be from 1 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home, Hoisington. Memorial donations to St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church may be made in care of the funeral home.
