Wheatland Electric Cooperative Inc. announced this week its partnership with Abbey Carpet and Floor to Power the Pantry.

Abbey Carpet and Floor, a locally owned business in Great Bend, is committing $500 to the Community Food Bank of Barton County to help stock shelves and give the pantry the flexibility to purchase the items they need most, according to a news release from WEC.

“Abbey Carpet’s donation bolsters WEC’s annual effort to Power the Pantry ahead of the holiday season. This year WEC has committed $50,000 to one dozen local food banks across southwest and central Kansas with the goal to double that commitment through business partnerships like the collaboration with Abbey Carpet & Floor,” the release noted.

Recently, Abbey Carpet & Floor celebrated 50 years serving the Great Bend and surrounding communities. “As a family-owned business for the past five decades, supporting other area families by helping power the local pantry was a big way to show their appreciation to the community that has given them so much,” the release continued.
