Paula Axman

Paula Axman, Vice-President and Director of Marketing for Cheyenne Travel Agency and its wholly owned leisure travel division, Please Go Away™ Vacations, was recently notified by American Queen Steamboat Company that she and her husband were invited to be guests of the cruise line for a Mississippi River cruise aboard the American Queen Steamboat in December. The invitation was extended in recognition of Cheyenne Travel’s proven and one-of-a-kind promotional programs and the resulting sales production numbers that make Cheyenne Travel one of the cruise line’s preferred sales organizations in the United States.
River ports, like New Orleans, Natchez, Vicksburg, Baton Rouge and the Southern plantation – Houmas House will be featured. The cruise will have a holiday theme featuring special seasonal events along the river, like the building of the famous pyres that line the Mississippi River and which, when lit on Christmas Eve, guide Papa Noel as he delivers his gifts to the children of the lower Mississippi. Every year over one hundred 30 foot plus tall bonfire structures are built of wood, firecrackers, and occasionally bamboo along the Mississippi. Construction by groups of families usually begins during the Thanksgiving break from school
The “Rebirth of Steamboating in America” occurred a little over a year ago after an absence of more than 10 years with the creation of the American Queen Steamboat Company and its reintroduction on the Mississippi River of the “American Queen,” the largest paddlewheel steamboat ever built. Building on the tremendously positive response received, American Queen Steamboat Company will add new river cruises on the Columbia and Snake Rivers of the Pacific Northwest in 2014 with the introduction of the “American Empress,” another authentic paddlewheel steamboat.
In commenting on the invitation Axman stated, “Kenny and I are looking forward to taking advantage of this marvelous opportunity to celebrate our 40th wedding Anniversary. It is pleasing to note that Cheyenne Travel’s business credo of “Small Town Caring – Worldwide” allows our travel team to be considered leaders of travel professionals from throughout the United States and Canada. In addition to having an obviously good time, I will also welcome the opportunity to meet personally with the leadership of American Queen Steamboat Company. Having such personal contacts allows us to provide the highest levels of personal service and preferred cruise opportunities to our travelers, which are quite often not available to the general public.”
