LARNED — The Pawnee Valley Community Hospital Auxiliary Ladies donated funds to purchase four new wheelchairs for patients at The University of Kansas Health System - Pawnee Valley Campus. The auxiliary team is a vital part of the growing hospital, said Sharon Towery, a marketing specialist for The University of Kansas Health System. The wheelchair donation represents just a single example of the many acts of kindness this team performs daily.

“Our patients rely on the wheelchairs to make check-in, transfer and general mobility safe, convenient and comfortable. Each wheelchair serves as a safe place patients may wait until the appropriate departments and teams are ready to serve them,” Towery stated in a news release. “At times, Pawnee Valley Campus can have high numbers of patients in need of wheelchairs. Our physical therapy, advanced rehabilitation and acute nursing teams are examples of those that frequently require wheelchairs to safely support patients during rehabilitation or hospitalization.

“The new wheelchairs will be well-used and are greatly appreciated,” she said.
