American farmers are very good at growing commodity grains, but marketing will always be an uphill battle.
A sorghum marketing workshop is being hosted by Cottonwood and Midway Extension Districts from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 1, at the Hoisington Recreation Activity Center, 1200 Susank Road.
The workshop is free to attend, but RSVP is requested by Tuesday, Feb. 27. Register at https://tinyurl.com/3xaebrra Or email Theresa tam3@ksu.edu or call 785-628-9430.
The purpose of this in-person workshop will be to help Kansas farmers develop quantifiable, actionable pre-harvest grain marketing strategies for Kansas crops produced in 2023.
Following the in-person workshops there will be a series of monthly online follow-up meetings between March-August for workshop participants, allowing producers to stay on top of what is happening in the markets.
The focus of the workshop topics will be: key factors in developing effective grain marketing plans, developing pre-harvest marketing plan action strategies, carrying out a pre-harvest sorghum marketing plan for a representative year, review the effectiveness of group marketing plan choices made in the workshop, grain market outlook for 2023 and building a pre-harvest marketing plan for sorghum in 2023.
So don’t delay and get registered for the “Winning the Game” Sorghum Marketing Workshop.
