Jenny Conn has been named as the new Executive Director for the Russell Area Chamber of Commerce. She will officially begin her duties on April 1.
“I am verry honored to have the opportunity to serve the Russell area as the chamber Executive Director,” Conn said. “I look forward to being active in this area on a full-time basis and am so thankful to be a member of this community.”
Conn graduated from Fort Hays State University in 2002 with a B.A. in Communications, majoring in Journalism with a Field of Emphasis Certificate in Leadership Studies. Prior to her position with the RAC of C, Conn worked at OneMain Financial in Hays as a Mortgage Loan Specialist.
“We are pleased to have Jenny on board as the new Executive Director for the chamber,” Larry Calvery chamber president said. “After interviewing several qualified candidates for the position, Jenny, who was our first choice, was offered the position which she accepted on Monday. We are looking forward to embarking on new opportunities to do what we expect to accomplish with the chamber and that is to work together to build a better community by promoting businesses and opportunities available in Russell and the surrounding area.”
Conn and her family moved to Russell in December 2010. Her husband, Jim, is employed at Russell Regional Hospital. They have four children: Sadie, Conn’s stepdaughter who is 15; Jakob, 14, her stepson; Liam, her son who is four; and Cameron, her youngest son, who is 14-months-old.
“Spending time with my family is my first love, but my other pastime activities include singing, acting, writing, photography and volunteer work,” Conn said.
“I am a tremendously avid advocate of Early Childhood Connections, United Way, Relay for Life, American Red Cross, and any other cause I have the opportunity to carry a torch for,” she said.  “I look forward to the new opportunities the position offers.”
