LYONS — The Slammer, 120 E. Main, Lyons, will hold an open house and ribbon cutting at 5:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 29.
The open house will be a chance to tour the Historic Rice County Jail in its new form. The main floor has been restored to what it might have looked like in 1929 when it originally opened. The second floor, where the jail is located, remains much the same as it was when it opened 92 years ago.
The main floor is now an Airbnb site with two apartments to choose from. The top floor is open to host parties, murder mystery dinners, tours, and overnights. An escape room will be ready in a few weeks.
Visitors are invited to come get a sneak peek. A five-minute mock escape will be held for spectators to watch.
