Stanion Wholesale Electric Company just completed it’s ninth Stanion Charity Golf Classic for the benefit of Special Olympics Kansas. This year’s event was held at Falcon Lakes Golf Club in Basehor. The tournament raised $81,260 this year, which brings the nine year total to $695,000 since it’s inception. Otto Buche, executive vice-president of Stanion is tournament chairman.
Proceeds from the Stanion Golf Classic continue to support Special Olympics Kansas. These funds help thousands of children and adults with intellectual disabilities to participate in quality sports programs across the state.
Golfers from across the nation supported the Stanion event and enjoyed a fabulous day of fall weather and great golf. Several Special Olympics athletes were also on hand to welcome the golfers at the reception the night before and one special athlete helped the golfers finish the ninth hole.
Jud and Bobbe Stanion founded the company in 1961. Bill Keller, CEO, and his wife Cindy, are current owners. John Keller, son of Bill and Cindy will soon move to Lawrence and become the branch manager there. Stanion operates 17 locations in Kansas and Missouri with over 200 employees, thirty of which work at the corporate office located in Pratt.
