Doug Thurman has been promoted to the role of president of American State Bank & Trust. Greg Quarles will continue as the president and CEO of American State Bancshares Inc., the holding company for the bank. In addition, Quarles will serve as chief executive officer of the bank.  

Thurman’s attention will be on the daily management of the bank. Quarles’ focus will be strategic planning and setting the overall vision and direction for the organization.
