Great Bend Public Schools welcomes Tonya Miller, SHRM - CP to the position of Human Resources Director.

Miller started in the new position on June 1, bringing eight years of experience in human resources to USD 428 from previous roles at Sunflower Electric Power Corporation and The University of Kansas Health Systems, Great Bend Campus. 

“With nearly 700 employees, our district will benefit greatly from the addition of a Human Resources director,” said John Popp, assistant superintendent for USD 428. “In a time where workforce challenges are hitting every industry, we want to ensure our processes are effective in both recruiting and retaining talented employees.” 

In addition to her industry experience, Miller earned her Bachelor’s in Organizational Leadership and Certified New Supervisor Training from Fort Hays State University. Miller is also a SHRM Certified Professional.

“I’m excited to use my HR expertise to assist district leaders,” said Miller. “While I’m new to the field of public education, best practices and strategies for recruitment, retention, employee relations, and development can be used to foster and grow the positive work environment in USD 428.”
