The United Way and Sunflower Bank have joined forces once again for their annual “Stuff the Bus” campaign, a community-driven initiative aimed at collecting school supplies for children in need. The United Way of Central Kansas is working tirelessly to ensure that local children have the necessary tools to start the new school year with confidence. The “Stuff the Bus” campaign encourages community members to purchase new school supplies and support their local schools. The Bus will be at Ellinwood Family Foods and Dollar General from 5-6 p.m. on Aug. 9

Sunflower Bank Employees volunteer their time, in partnership with The United Way, which plays a vital role in assisting families with limited financial means, said Becca Maxwell of Sunflower Bank. By volunteering to stuff backpacks filled with essential supplies, the program makes a significant difference in helping children begin the academic year on the right foot.

Community members can participate in this crucial initiative by contributing new school supplies such as backpacks, spiral notebooks, erasers, glue, crayons, colored pencils, two-pocket folders, pens, pencils, hand sanitizer, reusable water bottles, tissues, and rulers. Donations can be dropped off at Sunflower Bank locations in Great Bend and Ellinwood until Aug. 10.
