Barton County saw a drop in the number of active COVID-19 cases this past week, with 46 new cases between Monday, Nov. 30, and Friday, Dec. 4. Barton County Administrator Phil Hathcock noted, however, that the update released at 5 p.m. Friday did not include any results from Tourhealth, the company operating the testing site at Barton Community College.
“Tourhealth is experiencing difficulty in reporting test results to KDHE (the Kansas Department of Health and Environment),” Hathcock said.
The 46 new cases in the four-day period were less than half the 95 new positive cases reported between Nov. 25 and Nov. 30.
Barton County has had 1,701 positive cases to date, and 196 of those were active Friday. Last Monday, 241 cases were active. The number of deaths attributed to COVID-19 in Barton County was unchanged at 13.
The county has issued 5,870 quarantine or isolation orders and 334 were active Friday, down from 403 last Monday. The 1,701 cases include 730 males and 971 females
