Great Bend Public Library announced Monday that it will be closed all week.

Library officials released a statement on Monday:

“As a thriving community hub with events for all ages, we believe it is in our community’s best interest to close the library and cancel all library-sponsored events starting March 15 through March 21, 2020. We will continue to monitor COVID-19 updates and will make a decision about upcoming March events as we learn more. During this time we encourage our patrons to use digital services, like Libby and Hoopla, both free with your Great Bend Library card. We thank you for your understanding in this matter.”

Central Kansas Library System, per its Pandemic Action Plan, will close when USD 428 closes, according to a statement posted on the CKLS website by Director Gail Santy.

It is up to the boards of individual libraries to decide whether or not to close.
