Number of new COVID-19 cases down
No area clusters in past week

As of 9 a.m. Wednesday, there have been 292,837 COVID-19 cases in Kansas, resulting in 9,189 hospitalizations and 4,724 deaths statewide. There were 1,122 new cases, 81 new deaths and 86 new hospitalizations reported since Monday, Feb. 22.

This week the Kansas Department of Health and Environment reported eight cluster locations, none of which are located in the Golden Belt. Each week, KDHE releases the locations that have five or more COVID-19 cases with symptom onset dates in the last 14 days.

Topeka Correctional Facility has had 111 cases in the last 14 days. The only other correctional facility on the list was the Shawnee County Jail in Topeka, 6 cases.

Long-term care facilities on the list were Healthcare Resort of KC, Kansas City, 7 cases; Healthcare Resort of Topeka, 7; and Life Care Center of Burlington, 11.

Private businesses on the list were the Amazon Fulfillment Center in Kansas City, 7, and Siemens Gamesa in Hutchinson, 7.

There was one school on the list, Piper High School, in Kansas City, 6 cases.

Here are KDHE’s total confirmed and probable cases for area counties to date, followed by total deaths:

• Barton 2,565 cases (+1 since Monday), 48 deaths (unchanged)

• Ellsworth 1,206, (+3) 23 (+2)

• Pawnee 1,132, 14 (no changes)

• Rice 1,050, (+2) 12 (+1)

• Rush 424, (+10) 13 (+1)

• Russell 835 (+1), 27

• Stafford 333, 9 (no changes)


Vaccinations

There have now been 506,401 doses of COVID-19 vaccine administered in Kansas. As of 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, 12% of Kansans – 350,989 people – have received their first dose of vaccine.
