Gerald and Helene Dixon

Gerald and Helene Dixon of Great Bend, will celebrate their 50th anniversary with a reception at 5 p.m. on Aug. 31 at Perkins Restaurant. Hosts for the event will be Gerry Dixon and Arlene Williams.
Helene Freeman and Gerald Dixon were united in marriage on Sept. 30, 1963. Gerald Dixon is a lifelong resident of central Kansas. After serving in the military during the Korean war, Gerald worked in the oil fields for many years. He later became a driver for Marlette Homes until their closure in Great Bend. He finished his career as a driver for Airco Industrial products in Otis. During his career as a truck driver, he logged more than 2 million miles. Helene spent many years as a pilot car driver working with Gerald. She then became a home healthcare provider for some of Great Bend’s most distinguished citizens. The couple has three children, Arlene Williams of Boise, Idaho, and her children Kelly Jones and Jason Morin, the late Albert Dixon and Gerry(Deano) and wife, Carrie Dixon and their children Katie and Blake, of Franklin Lakes, N.J.; and three great-grandchildren.
