Ben and Florence Shaffer will celebrate their 60th anniversary on Nov. 26 with a card shower. A family dinner will be held on Thanksgiving weekend.
Ben J. Shaffer and Florence L. Bahr were united in marriage on Nov. 26, 1952 at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Olmitz. They have lived in Hays, Ness City and Great Bend. Ben retired from the oilfield and works for the community college in the spring and summer months. Florence retired from her nursing profession as an RN. The couples children are Linda (Tom) Elliott of McPherson, Patsy (Charli) Giangrosso of Alva, Okla., Kenneth (Donna) and Sharon (Joe) Denney, both of Great Bend, Tom (Sue)  of Wichita, Dan of rural Saint John, Treva (Allen) Goodman of Ness City, Cathy of Hays, and Laurie (Richard) Logan of Clay Center. They have 16 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.
