Elsie Marie Reimer-Snowbarger-Stafford

Elsie Marie Reimer-Snowbarger-Stafford of Sylvia will celebrate her 90th birthday with a come-and-go Open House reception for friends and family from 2 to 4 p.m. on Oct. 24, at the Pleasant Hill Church of the Nazarene, 406 South Shepherd, in Sylvia.
Elsie was born in Oakland, Maryland. On Oct. 9, 1949, she married Lee Earl Reimer at Medford, Okla. They resided in Great Bend for 18 years before living in Pawnee Rock for 11 yrs. During these young family years, being blessed with 4 children, Elsie was a wife, mother, and homemaker. She was also working various jobs as a cook at Larned Nursing Home, Switchboard Operator at Central Kansas Medical Center, reviewed depositions for lawyers, and ‘kept the books’ for Lee’s Lawn care business in the 70’s. They made the move to Sylvia in 1981. After 46 years of marriage, Lee passed away April 3, 1995.  
In June of 1997, she was united in maraige to Ralph Snowbarger. They enjoyed almost 5 years of marriage before Ralph passed away in February of 2002.  
Through the years, Elsie has served in the ministries of the Bergthal Mennonite church of Pawnee Rock, Pleasant Hill Church of the Nazarene of Sylvia, and Women’s Aglow Chapters of Great Bend and Hutchinson. In the fall 2003, Elsie enrolled in Charis Bible College in Colorado Springs, Colo. where she earned her ministerial license two years later at 80 years old. She joined the Crossroads Ministries that prays and shares with the elderly in nursing homes in Cunningham and Stafford. She’s made between 70-100 contacts in the past 10 years of serving.
When Elsie returned from college, she was united in mariage to Earl Stafford 2 years later in May, 2007. He died in January 2015.
Elsie’s children are Karen Reimer of Jacksonville Fla., Kurt Reimer of Denver Colo., Jeanne Cantrell of Canon City, Colo., Kala and Mitch Ady, of Springfield Mo., and Keith and ‘Nita Reimer, of Great Bend. She has 16 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
