Garland “Garb” Ensley will celebrate his 95th birthday at a family luncheon reception on Saturday, Nov. 11, 2017, at First Southern Baptist Church Annex in Great Bend.
Hosts for the celebration will be his children and their families, Ronald Ensley, Connie and Larry Parsons, Bonnie and John Achatz, Kevin and Tammy Ensley, Dennis Ensley, and Greg and Jan Ensley. Garb has nine grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Garb was born Nov. 11, 1922, in Jefferson to Heber Ted and Lettie Lenora (Skinner) Ensley. Garb had one brother, Edwin, and six sisters, Lucille, Neva, Virginia, twins Retta and Gretta, and Donna Lou. Virginia, his only surviving sibling, resides in Plainville. He married Evalee Cooper on June 25, 1947, in Stockton. In 1965, the couple moved from Plainville to Great Bend with their four sons, Ronald, Kevin, Dennis, and Greg, and twin daughters, Connie and Bonnie.
Garb worked in the oilfield for several years, and in 1974 founded Garb’s Welding Inc. His sons continue to operate the business. His wife Evalee passed away Sept. 3, 1995.
