Laura Reynolds Wyatt will celebrate her 100th birthday with an Open House from 2 to 4 p.m. on Sept. 6, at Kenwood Plaza, 607 East 1st Street in St. John. No gifts are requested
Laura was born on Sept. 5 and grew up in Missouri and Kansas, living most of her adult life in Macksville, Dodge City, Littleton, Colo. and St. John. Upon retirement, she was employed as office manager at Eckles Department Store in Dodge City. She was married to Basil Reynolds for 41 years, and after his death she married Clifford Wyatt. Laura gave birth to eight children (two who died at birth).
She has 18 grandchildren plus spouses; 44 great-grandchildren plus spouses; and 16 great-great-grandchildren. She also has five step-children; seven step-grandchildren; and several step-great-grandchildren. Her living children are, Phyllis Staub and husband Victor, of St. John, Lenna Frye and husband Merwin, of Bella Vista, Ark., Doris Rice and husband Dennis, of St. John, Gordon Reynolds and wife Janis, of Branson, Mo., Catherine Naccarato and husband Duane of Rogers Ark., Carol Knaus and husband Carl, of Garden City, step-children, Ginny Wyatt Stevens of Lakewood, Colo. and Sharon Wyatt Mueller and husband Gary of Colorado Springs, Colo.
A family reunion was held earlier in August to celebrate her 100th birthday. This family celebration was held at the St. John IOOF Hall and was planned before her birthday so that school would not interfere with family attendance. Around 100 family members attended the birthday celebration.
