The Heartland Center for Spirituality announces a special prayer event for the Care for Creation celebration. Sister Ann Axman, co-director of the center, provided the following information.

Drawing on Pope Francis’s important encyclical, Laudato Sí, the annual celebration of Care for Creation takes place from September 1 to October 4, the feast of St. Francis of Assisi. This season unites the world’s 2.6 billion Christians in prayer and action to protect Earth, our common home.

Tuesday evening, October 3rd at 6:30 p.m., a special prayer event (rosary interspersed with short reflections) is scheduled at the Fatima Shrine, Dominican Sisters Motherhouse, 3600 Broadway Ave. in Great Bend. Refreshments follow. Please mark your calendar and let us join together to celebrate and reflect prayerfully on the gifts of creation and the mission given us by God to care for creation and respond to its needs and crises.
