On Jan. 27, the Great Bend knights of Columbus hosted its annual Men’s Stag. The event featured a mountain oyster and homemade sausage meal, fellowship and a prize drawing. Howard Meier, Columbus Club board member said, “Thanks to the support of our Stag sponsors, we were able to give away nearly $3,000 in cash and prizes.”
Duane Reif, Kansas For Kids Foundation, attended the event. All aluminum cans reclaimed from the evening were donated to the foundation. Additionally, many of the cash price recipients donated their winnings to the Foundation. Reif addressed the crowd stating, “I am honored to be here this evening and want to thank you all for supporting the Kans for Kids Foundation. It’s only through your generosity that the Foundation can continue providing support for cancer patients and their families.”
The Knights of Columbus is an international Catholic men’s fraternal organization. Money raised from events, such as the Stag, is used to support local needs. The Great Bend Council has been a long time supporter of many local organizations, including the Kans for Kids Foundation, Catholic education and Camp Hope.
