The Barton County Association of Retired School Personnel met on March 13, at Montana Mike’s, in Great Bend. President Sally O’Connor presided over the meeting. There were 42 members present.
Darnell Holopirek, Executive Director of Institutional Advancement at Barton Community College presented the program on Barton’s partnership with the Ellsworth Correctional Facility, where inmates can earn a GED, 18 or 32 hour certificates or an Associate’s Degree. Technical classes in welding and manufacturing are also offered, so that inmates will have a marketable skill upon release.
All retired school personnel in Barton County are invited and encouraged to become involved in the local group. The next meeting will be at 11:30 a.m. on May 16, at Montana Mike’s.
Retired school personnel are invited to get involved and guests are always welcome.
