Derinda Bussman, Community Service Leader for Bungalow Family and Community Education Unit, reported on the group’s work during the past year. “Our shoppers for the Food Bank do a great job of finding bargains and making use of manufacturers’s coupons,” she said. Local food markets provide much needed foods to the Food Bank.
Money to fund Emergency Aid comes from churches and other service minded groups to help deserving families with cash to pay overdue rent and past due utility bills. Funds go to the landlord or the utility company. The unit voted to give $25 to each of the projects.
Lois Brichacek, the unit’s Tour Director, described the tour of Greensburg taken by members and guests. The group also toured a number of tourist sites in “Kansas’ Fist All-Green City”.
Jeanine Laughlin and Margie Nairn will host the annual “Pot Luck Luncheon” at 11:30 a.m. on Nov. 12 at the Foundry Methodist Church. Guests of members are invited.
