Eleven members and two guests of Great Bend Garden Club traveled to Larned on May 18 to tour the Larned Rose Garden at Schnack Park. Marlene Baird, president of Larned’s club, welcomed those from Great Bend and explained the renovations they have made to their garden. The morning was spent with many members of the Larned Club among many beautiful memorial roses bursting with colorful blooms as they welcomed the spring season.
At noon members of both clubs enjoyed lunch, a visiting time, and pictures taken at Sweets-N-Eats Restaurant in Larned.
Those attending from Great Bend were: Nancy Williams, Bonnie Sarff, Delores Grose, Iva Behrens, Jeannine Girton, Alice Young, Eileen Ingersoll, Teresa Bachand, Donna Knipe and Sharon East, Nancy Swafford, and Fern Tompkins, and with guests Donna Knipe and Iva Behrens’ daughter, Cheryl Naugle from Salt Lake City, Utah.
The next meeting of Great Bend Garden Club will be at 10 a.m. on Sept. 15 in the Barton County Extension meeting room. The hostess will be Eileen Ingersoll and the program will be given by Alice Young.
