Golden Belt Chapter of NARFE

Charles Waknitz was elected president of the local Golden Belt Chapter of NARFE at the November meeting.
Other officers elected were Derinda Bussman-Vice-president and Program Chairman; Carol Herter, of Claflin-Secretary; and Marie Schepman, of Claflin-Treasurer and Quarterly Letter Editor. Danny Nobles gave the nominating committee report.
Derinda Bussman, current president, opened the business session.
Bob Rothe, who heads the Alzheimer Research program for the local chapter, announced that members had donated $200 for the project. Alzheimer’s Research is a state and national project of NARFE.
Pam Maxwell of Topeka, who handles Blue Cross insurance policies for current and retired federal employees, was guest speaker. Maxwell described changes and additions in the various insurance plans carried by the company and gave members information to answer their questions.
The December meeting of NARFE will be held at noon on Dec. 9 at The Club at StoneRidge. The program will be given by the Madrigal Singers of Great Bend High School.
